Fostering Curiosity by Teaching to the "Stage, Not the Age"

With over 20 years of teaching experience, I have a strong grasp of early and middle childhood development. My philosophy centres on teaching to a child’s developmental "stage, not their age," which allows me to provide engaging, age-appropriate scaffolding.

GLS tuition is geared up to support and stimulate learning environments by using creative strategies to inspire genuine curiosity. An example of this is my use of "self-competition" spelling sheets. Kids try to beat their own accuracy and speed records using a timer, completely removing the anxiety of peer comparison while building their skills. Every lesson is engaging and filled with multi-sensory activities, like using a physical 'alphabet arc' and incorporating fun movement brain breaks. On top of that, I try to maintain clear communication with families, keeping them in the loop with face-to-face updates at pick-up, secure emails, and quick WhatsApp messages to maintain a strong team approach.
